Youth with a Mission Nicaragua

With the understanding that a basic education is an essential ingredient to escape a cycle of poverty, we sought permission from the proper authorities to start a pre-school.

Within a short time we had permission from the government to start the pre-school, but only if we built a separate building for the classes with their own bathrooms. Miraculously a church donated the funds for construction and sent a team to start the project. But, we needed much more work to be done; and the fathers, brothers from the barrio and other members of the mission donated their time and efforts to complete the building. The next year we needed a first grade building to continue the training and once again, the funds became available, just barely to cover the cost of another wooden cabin.

This has truly been a community development venture and some of the families have taken a new interest with hope in their children. They are participating in their own development and seeing that they can have a better life. Mothers help out with cleaning and donate even small bags of cleaning fluid and toilet paper for the school.
